DERMAL FILLER GUIDE

Lip and facial fillers: how to aim for a natural and safe result

Good filler should not be obvious because “there is filler.” It should correct a specific volume, proportion or support problem without changing more than necessary.

With filler, placement and amount matter just as much as the product itself.

01

First define what you are correcting

Lip volume, contour, asymmetry, folds and loss of support are different problems. Before injecting, decide where product is actually needed.

02

More product does not automatically mean a better result

Volume should fit the lips, chin, cheeks and the rest of the face. Adding product without a plan can create heaviness or unnatural proportions.

03

The same filler is not appropriate for every area

Ask which filler is being used and why it fits that area. More importantly, the injector must understand facial anatomy, depth and vascular structures.

Filler type, depth and amount change with the treatment area

Lips, cheeks, chin and folds do not require the same product or technique. First decide what needs correcting and at what depth; then choose the filler and amount.

04

Fillers can have serious complications, even if uncommon

Besides swelling, bruising or lumps, vascular complications can occur and require rapid recognition and management. Treatment should therefore take place in a medical setting with a trained professional.

05

4 questions before filler treatment

What exactly are we correcting?

How much product are you proposing and why?

Which filler will be used and can I see the packaging and batch?

How would you manage a vascular complication?

So: how do you avoid an “overfilled” result?

First decide what needs to be corrected, then how much product is needed and where it should go. Adding volume without a clear objective increases the risk of an unnatural result. Anatomy, amount and technique must point in the same direction.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Worried about looking swollen or overfilled?

You can request an assessment even if you have not chosen a treatment yet. If you are starting from zero, we begin with what you want to improve. If you send photos and tell us what you want to change, we can help you prepare a clearer assessment of the area, goal, proportions and realistic result to discuss with the doctor.

Request an assessment
