Botox: what to know before treatment

Botulinum toxin works best when the problem is mainly driven by muscle movement. It does not replace lost volume and it does not lift the entire face.

01

It mainly treats dynamic lines

Forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet are classic examples where muscle movement contributes to wrinkles. Temporarily reducing that movement can soften the lines.

02

It does not replace filler or surgery

If the main problem is volume loss, a deep fold or significant laxity, toxin may not be the main answer. First identify what is actually creating the feature you want to change.

03

Natural does not mean “no effect”

Dose and placement should fit the face. The goal may be to reduce selected movement while keeping expression, rather than making every forehead look the same.

Botulinum toxin and fillers solve different problems

Botulinum toxin mainly affects muscle movement; filler adds volume or support. Some faces need one, some the other, and some a carefully planned combination.

04

Safety means authentic product and a qualified injector

Ask which product is used, who injects it and in what medical setting. Knowledge of anatomy and the ability to manage adverse effects matter more than a very low price.

05

4 useful questions before treatment

What facial problem are we trying to correct with botulinum toxin?

How much movement should remain so the result does not look too rigid?

Which product will be used and when is the follow-up check?

If asymmetry or an unwanted effect appears, who follows me and what should I do?

So: does Botox actually treat the problem you have?

It mainly makes sense when the problem you want to improve is caused by muscle movement. If the main issue is volume loss, laxity or skin quality, another treatment may be more appropriate. The choice starts with the actual problem, not the treatment name.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Not sure whether you need Botox, filler or neither?

You can request an assessment even if you have not chosen a treatment yet. If you are starting from zero, we begin with what you want to improve. If you send photos and explain what you want to improve, we can help you understand what needs to be assessed and which treatment is worth discussing with the doctor.
